Tank the Turtle isn’t just a children’s book—it’s a dedication to the life and memory of Sarah Harmon and her courageous year and a half battle with cancer. Her bravery and perseverance during her battle with cancer is the inspiration for the story of Tank the Turtle, in hopes that it is an encouragement to anyone who might be struggling or going through a similar situation.
The story of Tank began with a single question: What if one little turtle could make a big difference? From that spark, Jesse Harmon and his children (known as the G Squad) imagined Tank—a lovable turtle with a heart as big as his shell. Tank isn’t your average turtle. He’s brave, he’s curious, and most of all, he believes in the power of never giving up.
A BOOK WITH A HEART
“My Mom is My Hero: and her journey to #fighthard against cancer” is the story about Tank the Turtle, the turtle who beat a rabbit in a foot race. In the book we learn that Tank’s power is not his speed, but his ability to never give up. A power which he learned from his mom, through her battle with cancer. While she battled, Tank saw someone who made the daily decision to fight and never give up, which gave him the courage and strength to beat the rabbit. In this book, you will see how Tank’s mom inspired him, and how he wrestles with hard questions and processes his feelings.
